VOTRONIC StandBy-Charger

The VOTRONIC StandBy-Charger is used to automatically recharge and maintain the charge of the starter battery if the mains charger or solar charge controller only has one charge output. The device can be easily retrofitted by simply connecting it between the on-board battery and the starter battery. Depending on the state of charge of the on-board battery, the starter battery is recharged with max. 3 A.

Make sure that both batteries have the same nominal battery voltage of 12 V / 12 V or 24 V / 24 V, as mixed operation of 12 V and 24 V is not possible.

!! The StandBy-Charger is only suitable for use with lead batteries (acid / gel / AGM technology), not for the combination of LiFePO4 and lead (starter) batteries.

If you want to charge the starter battery from a lithium service battery, we recommend either using a voltage-controlled Orion booster or controlling a DC/DC converter with adjustable fixed voltage via the load output of the MPPT solar controller.
