Cyrix Battery Coupler
The Cyrix battery coupler is a high performance microprocessor controlled relay that automatically connects batteries in parallel when one of them has reached a predetermined voltage level (indicating that the battery is being charged) and disconnects the batteries again when the voltage drops below the float voltage level (indicating that one or both batteries are being discharged).
Cyrix battery couplers are ideal for replacing isolating diodes. Their main feature is that there is virtually no voltage loss, so that the output voltage of the battery chargers does not need to be increased.
The "li" models differ in that the switching voltage for interconnection is higher than for the Cyrix without the "li" designation. As a lithium battery has a higher open-circuit voltage, this is essential as the relay would otherwise always remain closed. Thus the "li" version only switches at 13.4V and not the standard model at 13V.
