Pytes V16 Lite 16.07 kWh LiFePO4 Battery Storage System

The Pytes V16 Lite is a stationary 51.2-V low-voltage battery with a rated capacity of 16.07 kWh. It was developed for energy storage systems in single-family homes and small commercial businesses and combines high capacity per unit with high-performance inverter communication.

The LFP battery can store solar energy for later use, increase the self-consumption of a photovoltaic system, and—in appropriately designed systems—support functions such as backup power supply, off-grid operation, or peak load shaving. The specific function is determined by the inverter used and the overall system configuration.

  • 16.07 kWh rated power at 51.2 V and 314 Ah
  • Recommended charging and discharging current of 150 A and 7.68 kW, respectively
  • Up to 200 A or 10.24 kW for 180 seconds
  • Integrated Thermal Aerosol Extinguishing Module
  • CAN, RS-485, dry contact, and Wi-Fi
  • Wall-mounted or floor-standing installation
  • Up to 16 units can be operated in parallel
Important: The V16 Lite has an IP20 protection rating and is intended for use in a dry, protected indoor environment. It features an integrated thermal aerosol extinguishing module. According to the manual, the heating system is optional and must be verified based on the model ordered or the labeling on the packaging.

High capacity for self-consumption and backup power

With a rated energy capacity of 16.07 kWh, even a single battery provides substantial storage capacity. This allows solar power generated during the day to be used at a later time by consumers in a home or a small business.

The recommended charging and discharging capacity is 7.68 kW at 150 A. According to the manual, for short-term loads, 10.24 kW is possible for 180 seconds and a discharge peak of 15.36 kW for 15 seconds. The actual available power depends, among other factors, on the state of charge, the battery temperature, the inverter, and the system design.

Suitable Applications

  • Self-consumption of PV electricity: Store solar power and use it outside of generation hours
  • Home Energy: Stationary storage for compatible hybrid and energy management systems
  • Emergency or backup power: Supplying designated loads with a suitable inverter and a properly designed switching system
  • Tiny Houses and Off-Grid Living: Energy storage systems for professionally designed 48-V off-grid systems
  • Small Businesses: Optimizing Self-Consumption or Load Management with Appropriate System Control
Note: The battery alone does not provide emergency power or off-grid operation. This requires a compatible inverter, the necessary switching and protection components, and a suitable system configuration.

Integrated Battery Management System

The integrated BMS monitors and controls the battery. The functions listed in the manual include protection against overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, short circuits, improper temperatures, and reverse polarity of the power cables.

In addition, the system handles cell balancing, limiting the charge and discharge currents, calculating capacity, and recording operating data. This ensures that the individual cells are kept within the specified operating limits.

Integrated Thermal Aerosol Extinguishing Module

According to the manual, the Pytes V16 Lite features a Integrated thermal aerosol suppression module. The module is specified to have a trigger temperature of 185 ± 10 °C. It complements the electrical protection functions of the battery management system.

The fire suppression module does not replace professional installation or the fire and safety measures required at the installation site. The manufacturer’s specifications and local installation and fire safety regulations must be followed.

Wi-Fi Monitoring and Communication Interfaces

For external communications, the following are available: CAN, RS-485, Wi-Fi, and a dry contact available. The built-in Wi-Fi module allows you to monitor battery data in the Pytes RE+ app and perform firmware updates.

According to the manual, a 2.4-GHz network is required for Wi-Fi setup. 5-GHz networks are not supported during configuration.

Expandable to up to 16 batteries

As energy demand increases, up to 16 V16-Lite batteries can be operated in parallel. The batteries communicate via the designated LINK connectors. When using multiple units, the power cables must be routed separately to appropriate positive and negative busbars, as specified in the manual.

Important: The manufacturer expressly prohibits connecting the V16 Lite in series. Cables, busbars, fuses, disconnect switches, and inverters must be rated for the currents that will flow through them.

Compatibility with Inverters

The manual lists communication profiles for numerous manufacturers, including Victron, Deye, GoodWe, Growatt, Hoymiles, SMA, Solis, SolaX, Studer, Sungrow, Luxpower, and others. The appropriate communication profile is selected using the battery's DIP switch.

Check compatibility: Mentioning a brand does not constitute blanket approval for every inverter model. Before placing an order, you must verify the specific model, firmware, communication cable, and the current Pytes compatibility list. This also applies to Victron systems.

Assembly and Installation Environment

The V16 Lite can be mounted on a suitable, load-bearing wall or placed on a level surface. Casters and wall mounts are listed in the manual as included in the scope of delivery. Due to the unit’s weight of 126 kg, transportation, the surface on which it is placed, and mounting must be carefully planned.

Among other things, the manufacturer requires a dry location free from direct sunlight, standing water, heavy dust, or access by children and pets. A minimum distance of 0.5 m from the inverter is required.

Installation and commissioning may only be performed by appropriately qualified professionals. Before installation, the load-bearing capacity of the site, grounding, DC cabling, protective components, and inverter communication must be checked in particular.
