Victron Energy VM-3P75CT Meter – 3-Phase Energy Meter, 75 A, with VE.Can & Ethernet
The Victron Energy VM-3P75CT Meter Measures power and energy in single-phase, split-phase, and three-phase AC systems. It is particularly commonly used as Grid Meters in Victron ESS Systems used. However, it can also be used to measure a PV inverter, an AC generator, an inverter, or an inverter/charger.
A key advantage of the VM-3P75CT is the three included 75-A split-core current transformers. They are wrapped around the existing conductors, so the existing wiring does not need to be modified for current measurement. The RMS power values are calculated for each phase and updated at a rate of 100 ms transmitted via VE.Can or Ethernet.
Victron VM-3P75CT as a grid meter in the ESS
In a Victron Energy With the Storage System, the VM-3P75CT can be used as a network meter. It records the current Grid Connection and Grid Feed-in and makes these measurements available to the Victron system.
Thanks to the rapid transmission of measurement data, the system can detect changes in energy flow in real time. With most compatible Victron systems, the VM-3P75CT functions directly as a grid meter without requiring extensive configuration.
VE.Can and Ethernet Integrated
There are several options available for communication:
- VE.Can: Two RJ45 ports for connecting to a compatible Victron GX device.
- Ethernet: An RJ45 port for connecting to the local network.
- Modbus UDP: Communication via the Ethernet port.
The measurement data can be exported to VictronConnect, displayed on a compatible GX device such as the Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX, as well as via the Victron VRM Portal.
Flexible Applications
Depending on the system configuration, the VM-3P75CT can perform various measurement tasks:
- Grid Meters in Victron ESS Systems
- Measuring Grid Consumption and Grid Feed-in
- Measuring the Power Output of a PV Inverter
- Measuring an AC generator
- Measuring an Inverter
- Measuring an Inverter/Charger
- Measurement of Selected AC Loads
Three 75-A split-core current transformers are included
The VM-3P75CT comes with three plug-in 75-A current transformers Delivered. The split-core design makes it possible to open the current transformers and wrap them around conductors that are already installed.
This makes the VM-3P75CT particularly well-suited for integration into existing installations. Each current transformer has a connection cable measuring 640 mm.
Configuration with VictronConnect
In most systems, the VM-3P75CT can be used directly as a utility meter. Configuration via VictronConnect This is particularly necessary when the role of the energy meter is to be changed.
The meter can be configured, for example, as a utility meter, a PV inverter meter, a generator meter, or an AC meter. VictronConnect is also required if you want to use a manual IP configuration instead of the standard DHCP setting.
Measurements and Functions
In addition to power and energy, the VM-3P75CT provides various electrical measurement and diagnostic values:
- Phase-to-Neutral Voltage
- Phase-to-Phase Voltage
- Phase Flows
- Neutral Current
- RMS power values per phase
- Power factor according to the IEEE convention
- Phase sequence in a three-phase configuration
- Warning for Incorrect Phase Rotation
- Protective Grounding Voltages
For energy logging, you can choose between vectorial, arithmetic, and absolute registration can be selected. In addition, the status LED can be configured as a power pulse signal.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Victron VM-3P75CT
-
What is the Victron VM-3P75CT used for?
The VM-3P75CT measures power and energy in AC systems. It is particularly often used as Grid Meters in Victron ESS Systems used. However, it can also be used to measure PV inverters, AC generators, inverters, and AC loads.
-
Does the VM-3P75CT include current transformers?
Yes. The package includes three clip-on current transformers with a rated current of 75 A. The connection cables for the current transformers are each 640 mm long.
-
What is the difference between the VM-3P75CT and the VM-3P5A?
The main difference lies in how current is measured. In the The VM-3P75CT comes with three 75-A split-core current transformers included. The VM-3P5A, on the other hand, uses external current transformers with a 5 A secondary current, which are selected separately to match the system.
-
Do the wires need to be disconnected to install the current transformers?
No. The current transformers included in the package have a plug-in split-core design. They can be opened and wrapped around the existing conductor without modifying the existing wiring for current measurement.
-
Can the VM-3P75CT be used with three-phase power?
Yes. The VM-3P75CT supports Single-phase, split-phase, and three-phase applications. The three current transformers included in the delivery are used for three-phase current measurement.
-
Can the VM-3P75CT be connected via Ethernet?
Yes. The energy meter has an RJ45 Ethernet port and supports Modbus UDP. Alternatively, communication with a compatible GX device can take place via VE.Can.
-
Is the VM-3P75CT compatible with Cerbo GX and Ekrano GX?
Yes. The VM-3P75CT can be connected via VE.Can or Ethernet be integrated into a compatible Victron system with Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX.
-
