Orion XS 1400 - 9-35V IN / OUT 1400W DC/DC charging booster

The Orion XS was developed from scratch and redefines adaptive DC-DC charging. For use in dual battery systems that are charged with an (intelligent) alternator. This device not only ensures first-class performance, but also guarantees the safety of your system.

The Orion XS serves as a DC-DC battery charger or as a power source and offers a wide input and output voltage range. This is particularly important for vehicles with a Euro 5 or Euro 6 intelligent alternator, which often delivers too low a charging voltage even when the engine is running, or when longer cables, as is often the case with boats and motorhomes, lead to voltage drops. In such scenarios, precise and controlled charging is essential to fully charge the service battery and protect the starter/input battery from discharge.


Adjustable charging current

The charging current is adjustable with a minimum step size of 0.1 A via VictronConnect.


Intelligent alternator compatibility

An integrated mechanism detects whether the engine is running (engine cut-off detection), which means that the
charger is only activated when the alternator is supplying power. This ensures that the charger only
draws current when the alternator is supplying power, i.e. when the engine is running.


Adaptive four-stage charging algorithm

With lead batteries, it is important that the constant voltage phase is kept short during shallow discharges in order to avoid
overcharging the battery. After a deep discharge, the constant voltage phase is automatically
extended to ensure that the battery is fully charged.
The Orion XS has fully programmable charging algorithms and eight pre-programmed
battery settings.


Low temperature shutdown and input undervoltage protection

To prevent damage to lithium batteries, the charger shuts down automatically at low temperatures.
It also switches off when the input voltage drops below a configurable safety value and
switches on again when the input voltage rises above the restart value to protect the input source, e.g.
the starter battery, from deep discharge.


Remote on/off switching

The Orion XS can be switched on and off via the connector for remote on/off switching or via the VictronConnect app. Typical applications are the wiring of a switch or a
battery management system (BMS).


Comprehensive electronic protection

The protection functions include overload, short circuit and overtemperature. The charger is protected against overheating
by reducing the output power when the maximum device temperature is reached.


Can be connected in parallel to increase the output current

An unlimited number of devices can be connected in parallel.


Ready for Bluetooth Smart

Built-in Bluetooth Smart The wireless solution for changing settings, monitoring activities and
updating the Orion XS software via Apple and Android smartphones, tablets or other devices. Several
parameters can be customized with the VictronConnect app.
Instant Readout: The VictronConnect app can display important data, including warnings and alarms,
on the Device List page without requiring a connection to the product.
VE.Smart Networking: Use the VE.Smart Networking to receive Vsense, Tsense and Isense data via the
wireless network for your Orion XS DC-DC battery charger, for example from a BMV, a
SmartShunt or a Smart Battery Sense. The charger uses the information available from the battery to
optimize the charging parameters. This improves charging efficiency and extends battery life.


VE.Direct-Anschluss and DVCC

For a wired connection to a GX device such as the Cerbo GX, Ekrano GX, a PC or other devices.
Enables advanced monitoring, control and diagnostics from anywhere (requires a GX device connected to the Internet
and the VRM portal) or locally via the Remote Console, as well as DVCC (Vsense, Tsense, Isense),
system-wide charge current limiting and BMS control.


IP65 protection

The Orion XS complies with protection class IP65. This means that the product is dustproof and protected against heavy rain.


Recharging

Recharging from the battery pack to the starter battery is not possible.

VictronConnect

VictronConnect allows you to query live status information and configure all Victron products that either have a built-in Bluetooth function or are connected to a VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart Dongle.
